| The
District Rural Development Agency has traditionally
been the principal organizing
agency at the District level to oversee the
implementation of different anti-poverty programmes under the
control of Ministry of Rural Development
both from the Government of India and
the State Government. The
District Rural Development Agency was
established in 1980 and to prior to that, Small Farmers
Development Agency (SFDA) was
a nodal agency to oversee
the implementation of different anti-poverty programmes.
The District Rural
Development Agency is being administered by the Additional Collector
(Dev.)/Project Officer. The
District Collector is the chairman of the District Rural Development
Agency. The
administration of the DRDA is carried out by a Governing
Body. The
Governing Body of the DRDA will
provide policy directions, approve the annual plan and also
review and monitor the implementation of the plan, including
