Under the scheme, upgradation of kutcha houses into semi /pucca houses is taken up. with a subsidy of Rs. 10,000/-. Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe and other people living below poverty line are eligible to get assistance under this scheme. |

MEMBER
OF PARLIAMENT LOCAL AREA DEVELOPMENT SCHEME |
The Scheme was introduced in March 1993. Each M.P. (Both Lok sabha and Rajiya Sabha) was given Rs. 1 crore for undertaking development works in their constituency. This amount was raised to 2 crore in 1998-99. The M.P. concerned proposes the list of works to be taken up in the Parliament constituency to the District Collector, and the works are implemented by the Government departments. The works include school buildings, village roads, approach roads, irrigation canals etc. in addition to certain electronic projects like computers to schools.

MEMBER OF LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY CONSTITUENCY DEVELOPMENT SCHEME |
The Scheme was introduced in the year 1997. Each M.L.A. was given Rs.35 lakh but it was raised to 82 lakh during 2001-2002. The M.L.A. concerned identifies the Development works to be implemented in his constituency and recommends to the Collector, the works are executed by the Government department. |
PRADHAN MANTRI GRAM SADAK YOJANA |
This scheme was launched on 25th December 2000 . The primary focus of the programme is laying of new roads and upgradation of existing roads so as to achieve rural connectivity through a good all weather road. |

SWARN JAYANTI GRAM SWAROZGAR YOJANA |
This scheme was launched on 1.4.1999 as a new self employment programme . The objective of the scheme is to bring the assisted poor families above the poverty line by providing them income-generating assets through a mix of bank credit and Governmental subsidy. The Self Help Groups are initially graded to provide Revolving fund of Rs. 25000/- with Rs.10,000 subsidy and 15000 bank credit. Later, assessing the economic viability of the Projects, the Self Help Group are given assistance with a maximum subsidy of Rs.1.25 lakh or 50 % of the total project cost. |

The scheme was introduced in 2001-2002 with the objective of constructing of offices for Village Administrative officer in three year periods 2003-2004. |

With a view to promoting non conventional energy sources, biogas programme has been introduced in 1981. Under this scheme, Biogas plants have been constructed through a mix of subsidy of Rs.2300/- and bank credit of Rs.14,800. |

Drought Prone Area
Programme is being implemented to
treat 2600 ha of wasteland in Thuraiyur blok from 1993 to 2003 at a cost
of Rs. 80 lakh. Integrated Wasteland Development Programme is being implemented
in 24 watersheds in Thathayenkarpet block to improve 12100 ha of
wastelands with a cost of 726 lakh from 2000-2001 to 2004-2005. |

Comprehensive Wasteland Programme is being
implemented to improve 6500 ha of wasteland at a cost of Rs.130 lakh in

SAMPOORNA
GRAMEEN ROZGAR YOJANA |
A new wage employment Programme viz., sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) was launched on 25th September 2001. Both the Employment Assurance Scheme and Jawahar Gram Samridhi Yojana have been merged with this scheme. The Primary objective of the scheme is to provide additional wage employment in rural area and creation of desirable community social and economic assets. The Centre and State share the costs in the ratio of 75:25. Food grains is provided free of cost by the Central Government. |
